Children of Light
Khu looked upon the pyramids built by his ancestors and contemplated his station, his purpose, his destiny. His name meant “Protected”, but he had never felt safe; not from his tormentors as a child, not from the men who took his family’s home, and certainly not from the battles that took his family, his friends, and his leg. He silently cursed the Gods as he hobbled back to his hut, where he was greeted by a tall, foreign man in bright, silk garments with eyes like shimmering opals. The man introduced himself as Timoh, a Watcher and Protector for the Gods, with a message for Khu not to abandon hope, that his own resolve, forged in wrath and regret, would bring his salvation.
