a cure for the common block

The shark swam more snake-like than most; he was old and scarred, missing one eye and half-blind in the other, but these didn’t impede his hunting skills, his senses of taste and smell were always more powerful than sight, picking up a trail of blood miles before anything was visible. He swam toward the faint scent of blood, but as he drew nearer to the source he sensed more than just blood and organs, it tasted old, it tasted rotten; it was a familiar taste, one that had lead him into the trap that took his eye and a cut of his dorsal fin. He dove deep and turned around, against the current of other sharks and scavengers, away from the chum luring them to their doom.
