a cure for the common block

The Unnatural

Although Dale briefly entertained the notion of going along with the young woman’s mistake, he confessed that he wasn’t Brad, at which point she sheepishly removed her arms from around his neck and turned a remarkable shade of red. He introduced himself and offered to buy her a cup of coffee, through pursed lips she mumbled that she’d prefer tea. He didn’t stay for conversation, he could feel her humiliation from ten feet away, he wished her a nice day and walked off. A year later he was shopping for mattresses when he saw a couple walk into the store, the girl and a man who could be Dale’s twin.
